In the current climate, where safety is imperative within any project, the recent Construction Design Management Regulations 2007 have been implemented across the UK for all construction work. Due to falls from height being the greatest area of risk in construction, this brought about a change in Working at Height Regulations which were updated in 2005. As a result of these regulations, and the addition of European Standards, the requirement for scaffold design drawings and calculations is ever increasing.
At Scaffold Designs Limited, we can ensure that your legal and safety obligations are met within each contract. For more information see our list of services or contact the head office, details of which are on the contact page.
1. BS EN 12811-1:2003 - Scaffolds -
Performance requirements and general design. In the
foreword it states that EN 12811-1 supersedes BS 5973:1993 which is
withdrawn. Many engineers are still using this for scaffold designs
- do not accept designs engineered to
BS 5973.
2. NASC TG20:08 - Guide to good practice for scaffolding with
tubes and fittings. This gives guidance on the
implementation of BS EN 12811-1. Volumes 1 and 2.
3. BS 6399 - Loadings for buildings.
This will soon be superseded by the long
awaited Eurocode 1 - expected 2010.
4. BS 5975 - 1996 - Code of Practice for Falsework
Above are just a select few used when we design
scaffolding. If you require any more information with regards to
current codes of practice we will be glad to give an helping hand.
